Job Details

The Milwaukee Can Plant is a manufacturer of two-piece steel food containers, located on the Northwest side of Milwaukee.

We a moving to a continuous operation starting July 30, 2017 and hiring ASAP.

We are currently recruiting for the position of  Mechanic/ Maintainer for our Food Can Line.

Job Requirements

Performs tasks and provides services to support the plant's production goals, overall business plans and objectives as directed.

  • Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures.
  • Performs duties as required to insure compliance with the plant's quality standards.
  • Performs various manual or mechanical production functions by operating, adjusting, and repairing the production equipment to meet customer specifications.
  • Disassembles, overhauls, and rebuilds production equipment.
  • Performs troubleshooting on production equipment as required.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on production equipment as required.
  • Conducts inspection of in-process materials and in-process and finished product.
  • Responsible for replenishing supplies, materials, parts, and tooling required for assigned area.
  • Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer.
  • Communicates pertinent information to next shift.
  • Supplies and maintains required hand tools.
  • Performs clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties.
  • Rotates through all workstations as needed.

Job Qualifications

Requires a strong mechanical aptitude as well as the ability to operate and maintain a high speed production line.

Background preferred: Experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of production machinery, auto mechanic, machine rebuild, military or aviation mechanic.

High School Diploma or equivalency required.

The Milwaukee Can Plant offers a comprehensive benefits package including: health care, 401(k), stock purchase plan, life insurance, vacation and holidays.

Starting rate is $25.32 per hour, with time and a half after 8 hours plus COLA and shift premium.

Training -  8-hours, Monday – Friday.  Switching to continuous operation as of July 30, 2017.  Transferring to a 4/3 3/4 schedule working 12 hour shifts.
